The Boundry Line Meet the Artist Dixie Wajdic resides in Lakeside, Montana, where her wood working shop overlooks the beautiful Flathead Lake and the mountains. This fantastic view helps to inspire her to create one of a kind wood items. Dixie moved to Montana in the spring of 1991 from Pennsylvania. Born and raised on a small farm there, she often dreamed of living in the west, but never thought her dream would ever come true. Her passion is to hold on to the Montana heritage by using the old fence posts. The family vacations are spent searching for old juniper and cedar fence posts that have since been replaced. Most have been a part of the landscape for the past 50-75, sometimes 100 years. There is much history in this wood and Dixie helps to reveal the natural beauty as the wood turns on her lathe, creating beautiful vases, lamps, candle holders, (votive, oil, & tapers), clocks, business card holders. Hold on to part of the old west when you enjoy one of Dixie’s creations and cherish with her a part of Montana’s heritage.
